We collect information in several ways to provide, improve, and personalize the ZoomRead experience. The categories of information we collect are described below.
When you create an account, interact with our services, or communicate with us, you may provide the following types of information:
Account Registration Information: Your name, email address, and password (or credentials from a single sign-on provider) when you create a ZoomRead account.
Profile and Personalization Preferences: Your reading preferences, including preferred font sizes, color themes, reading modes (e.g., speed reading, focus mode, comfort mode), accessibility settings (e.g., dyslexia-friendly fonts, contrast adjustments, text-to-speech preferences), bookmarks, and saved reading lists.
Payment Information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, we collect billing details such as your name, billing address, and payment card information. Payment card data is processed directly by our third-party payment processors and is not stored on ZoomRead servers.
Support Inquiries: Information you provide when you contact our support team, including your name, email address, the content of your inquiry, and any attachments or screenshots you submit.
Feedback and Surveys: Responses you provide in user surveys, feedback forms, beta-testing programs, or product reviews.
When you access or use ZoomRead services, we automatically collect certain information from your device and your interactions with our platform:
Device and Browser Information: Your device type, operating system, browser type and version, screen resolution, language preferences, and unique device identifiers.
IP Address: Your Internet Protocol (IP) address, which may be used to estimate your general geographic location.
Cookies and Similar Technologies: Information collected through cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, and similar tracking technologies. See Section 5 for details.
Usage Data: Information about how you interact with ZoomRead, including pages visited within the application, reading activity (such as articles or documents read), features used, reading mode selections, session duration, timestamps, click patterns, and navigation paths.
Browser Extension Activity: When you use the ZoomRead browser extension, we collect data about when and where the extension is activated, reading mode selections made through the extension, accessibility settings applied, and general interaction data. We do not collect the content of web pages you visit unless the extension is actively engaged on that page, and only to the extent necessary to render the reading experience.
We may receive information about you from third-party sources, including:
Single Sign-On Providers: If you choose to register or log in using a third-party service such as Google, Apple, or another identity provider, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture (if available) from that provider, in accordance with your privacy settings on that platform.
Payment Processors: Our payment processors may share transaction confirmation details, billing address, and payment status with us to facilitate subscription management.
Analytics Partners: We may receive aggregated or de-identified usage analytics from third-party analytics services that help us understand how users interact with our platform.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
Delivering and Maintaining the Service: To create and manage your account, provide the core ZoomRead reading experience, sync your preferences across devices and browser extensions, and ensure platform functionality.
Personalizing the Reading Experience: To configure adaptive reading modes, apply your accessibility preferences (such as dyslexia-friendly fonts, contrast adjustments, and text-to-speech settings), and tailor content presentation to your individual needs.
Processing Transactions: To process subscription payments, manage billing, issue receipts, and handle refund requests.
Communicating with You: To send service-related notices (such as account verification, password resets, and subscription confirmations), respond to support inquiries, and, where you have opted in, send promotional communications about new features, updates, or offers.
Analytics and Research: To analyze reading habits and usage patterns in aggregate to improve ZoomRead’s features, develop new tools, optimize performance, and conduct internal research.
Security and Fraud Prevention: To detect, investigate, and prevent unauthorized access, security incidents, fraud, and other harmful or illegal activities.
Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests, and to enforce our Terms of Service and other agreements.
Exercising and Defending Legal Claims: To establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, and to protect the rights, property, or safety of ZoomRead, our users, or others.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom (UK), we process your personal data only where we have a valid legal basis under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The legal bases we rely on include:
Consent: Where you have given clear, affirmative consent for us to process your personal data for a specific purpose, such as receiving marketing communications or enabling optional analytics cookies. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
Contractual Necessity: Where processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you—for example, to create your account, deliver the ZoomRead service, manage your subscription, and sync your reading preferences.
Legitimate Interests: Where processing is necessary for our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of a third party, provided those interests are not overridden by your fundamental rights and freedoms. Our legitimate interests include improving and securing our services, conducting analytics, preventing fraud, and communicating with you about your account.
Legal Obligation: Where processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation to which we are subject, such as tax reporting, responding to lawful government requests, or maintaining records as required by law.
ZoomRead uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate, personalize, and improve our services. A “cookie” is a small data file stored on your device by your web browser.

Browser Settings: Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can set your browser to refuse all cookies, accept only certain cookies, or notify you when a cookie is being set. Please note that disabling essential cookies may impair the functionality of ZoomRead.
Opt-Out Tools: You may opt out of targeted advertising cookies through industry opt-out tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) at optout.aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) at optout.networkadvertising.org.
Some browsers transmit “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals to websites. There is currently no universally accepted standard for how companies should respond to DNT signals. At this time, ZoomRead does not respond to DNT signals, but we will continue to monitor developments in this area. Regardless of DNT settings, you can manage your tracking preferences through the methods described above.
We do not sell your personal information. We have not sold personal information in the preceding twelve (12) months and have no plans to do so.
We may share your information with the following categories of recipients, and only to the extent necessary for the purposes described below:
Service Providers and Vendors: We engage trusted third-party companies and individuals to perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, data storage, customer support, email delivery, and software development. These service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and may only use it to perform services for ZoomRead.
Payment Processors: We share billing and transaction information with third-party payment processors (such as Stripe, PayPal, or similar services) to process your subscription payments. These processors handle your payment card data directly and are subject to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
Analytics Providers: We share aggregated or de-identified usage data with analytics providers to help us understand platform usage, improve our features, and measure the effectiveness of our services.
Legal and Regulatory Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of ZoomRead, our users, or the public.
Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice on our website of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.
With Your Consent: We may share your information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so.
We retain your personal information only for as long as is reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and to comply with our legal obligations. The specific retention period depends on the nature of the data and the purpose for which it was collected:
Account Information: We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within thirty (30) days, unless retention is required by law.
Usage and Analytics Data: Aggregated and de-identified usage data may be retained indefinitely for research and service improvement purposes. Identifiable usage data is retained for up to twenty-four (24) months following collection.
Payment Records: Transaction and billing records are retained for as long as required by applicable tax and financial reporting laws, typically seven (7) years.
Support Communications: Records of support inquiries are retained for up to thirty-six (36) months after resolution to maintain service quality and for legal compliance.
Cookies: Cookie-based data is retained in accordance with the durations specified in Section 5.1 above.
7.1 Account Deletion and Data Removal
You may request the deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us at [Contact Email] or through your account settings. Upon receiving a verified deletion request, we will:
Delete or anonymize your personal information from our active systems within thirty (30) days.
Remove your data from backup systems within ninety (90) days.
Retain only such data as is required by law or necessary to resolve pending disputes or enforce our agreements.
We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect it against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and ZoomRead servers is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 or higher. Personal information stored on our servers is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption.
Access Controls: Access to personal information is restricted to authorized ZoomRead personnel who require access to perform their job functions. All access is governed by role-based access controls and multi-factor authentication.
Regular Security Assessments: We conduct periodic security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to identify and address potential threats to our systems.
Incident Response: We maintain an incident response plan to promptly detect, contain, and remediate security incidents. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
Limitation of Liability: While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ZoomRead shall not be liable for any unauthorized access to or disclosure of your personal information resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of hackers, cyberattacks, force majeure events, or your own failure to maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials.
ZoomRead is headquartered in the United States, and our primary servers and data storage facilities are located in the United States. If you access ZoomRead from outside the United States, your personal information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
When we transfer personal data from the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland to the United States or other countries that have not received an adequacy decision from the European Commission, we rely on the following safeguards:
Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs): We enter into European Commission-approved Standard Contractual Clauses with our service providers and data processors to ensure adequate protection of your personal data during cross-border transfers.
Adequacy Decisions: Where applicable, we transfer data to countries that the European Commission has determined provide an adequate level of data protection.
Supplementary Measures: Where required, we implement additional technical and organizational safeguards, such as encryption and access controls, to ensure that your data remains protected during international transfers.
By using ZoomRead, you acknowledge and consent to the transfer of your personal information to the United States and other jurisdictions as described in this section.
ZoomRead is not directed at children under the age of thirteen (13), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Our services are intended for use by individuals who are at least 13 years of age, or the applicable age of digital consent in their jurisdiction.
If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will take prompt steps to:
Delete the child’s personal information from our systems as soon as practicable.
Notify the child’s parent or legal guardian, if identifiable, and provide information about the data that was collected and the steps taken to delete it.
Implement additional safeguards to prevent future collection of children’s data.

ZoomRead complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and all applicable amendments and regulatory updates, including rules effective in 2026. We regularly review our practices to ensure ongoing compliance with evolving COPPA requirements.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have specific rights regarding your personal information. We are committed to honoring these rights in accordance with applicable law.
Regardless of your location, all ZoomRead users may:
Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
Deletion: Request the deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
Data Portability: Request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
Opt-Out of Marketing: Unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in any marketing email or by adjusting your communication preferences in your account settings.
If you are a California resident, you have the following additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
Right to Know: You have the right to request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources of that information, the purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
Right to Delete: You have the right to request the deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.
Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: You have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. As stated in Section 6, ZoomRead does not sell personal information.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights. You will not receive different pricing, a different quality of service, or be denied access to ZoomRead for exercising your rights.
Right to Correct: You have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: If we collect sensitive personal information (as defined by the CPRA), you have the right to limit its use and disclosure to purposes necessary for providing the service.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR:
Right of Access: You have the right to obtain confirmation of whether we process your personal data and to access a copy of that data.
Right to Rectification: You have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal data or to have incomplete data completed.
Right to Erasure (“Right to Be Forgotten”): You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances, such as when the data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.

Rights Related to Automated Decision-Making: You have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal or similarly significant effects. ZoomRead does not currently engage in automated decision-making that produces legal effects.
Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in the EU Member State or UK jurisdiction where you reside, work, or where the alleged infringement occurred.
If you are a resident of Texas, you have rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA), which became effective on July 1, 2024. Under the TDPSA, you have the right to:
Confirm whether we are processing your personal data and access that data.
Correct inaccuracies in your personal data.
Delete personal data you have provided or that we have obtained about you.
Obtain a portable copy of your personal data in a readily usable format.

Verification Process: To protect your privacy and security, we will verify your identity before fulfilling your request. Verification may require you to provide additional information, such as confirming the email address associated with your account. If you submit a request through an authorized agent, we may require proof of authorization and may still contact you to confirm your identity directly.
We will respond to all verified requests within the timeframes required by applicable law—generally within thirty (30) days of receipt, with a possible extension of an additional thirty (30) days for complex or voluminous requests, upon notice to you.
The ZoomRead browser extension is available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari. Because browser extensions operate within your web browser and may interact with web pages you visit, we provide the following additional disclosures specific to the extension:
The extension accesses the content of web pages only when you actively engage the extension on a specific page (for example, by activating a reading mode). The extension does not passively monitor or collect data from pages you browse without activation.
When activated, the extension reads the text content of the current page to apply your selected reading mode, accessibility settings, and visual preferences.
The extension collects which reading modes and accessibility tools you select, the URL of pages where the extension is activated, and session-level interaction data (such as time spent in a reading mode).
The ZoomRead browser extension requests the following permissions:
Active Tab / Page Content: Required to read and modify the text content and styling of the current page when you activate a reading mode.
Storage: Required to save your reading preferences, accessibility settings, and bookmarks locally on your device and to sync them with your ZoomRead account.
Identity / Authentication: Required to authenticate your ZoomRead account and sync your preferences across devices.
Data collected through the browser extension is used exclusively to:
Render your selected reading mode and accessibility settings on the current page.
Sync your preferences and bookmarks with your ZoomRead account.
Improve the quality and compatibility of the extension across websites and browsers.
Generate aggregated, de-identified analytics about feature usage and reading patterns.
The data collected by the browser extension is subject to the same privacy protections described throughout this Policy. However, there are key differences:
The extension does not set marketing cookies or serve advertisements.
The extension does not collect payment or billing information.
The extension accesses third-party web page content only with your active initiation, and this content is processed locally on your device—it is not transmitted to or stored on ZoomRead servers unless required for a specific feature (such as cloud bookmarking of a page URL).
ZoomRead may contain links to third-party websites, applications, or services that are not operated or controlled by us. This includes links within the ZoomRead application, our website, and pages accessed through the browser extension.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of any third-party website or service. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party website or service before providing your personal information.
The inclusion of a link to a third-party website within ZoomRead does not constitute an endorsement of that website or its privacy practices.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make changes, we will:

Post the revised Policy on our website and within the ZoomRead application.
